The Senior Development Manager, Event Logistics drives event logistics for Bike MS and Walk MS for the assigned events. The Senior Manager's primary responsibilities include acting as the lead project Senior Manager for all aspects of the planning and production of the assigned events and engaging the volunteer committees to enhance the event experience and increase both visibility and ridership. The Senior Manager collaborates widely across the development team and other departments to deliver an exceptional event experience that engage participants, donors and volunteers to advance the mission of the National MS Society. The ability to manage a large amount of details, track timelines, monitor expenses, delegate effectively, empower and direct volunteers and staff event weekend are essential. This position routinely works with constituents, external vendors and volunteers requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service. A driven individual with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, excellent teamwork ability, organizational skills and a commitment to achieving the desired results of events are essential.

Essential Function/Responsibility

1.Lead the logistical planning of assigned events
  • Drive logistical coordination to support revenue growth through well-executed event planning and implementation for each of the events.
  • Work with Director of Logistics to build volunteer committee structure for each event.
  • Build relationships and act as the primary liaison with event committees including collaborating with development and local office staff to develop committees as needed.
  • Ensure the delivery of a mission centered, inspiring and exceptional event experience for all participants.
  • Plan and secure event routes including developing contingencies as needed.
  • Responsible for all elements of event safety including attention to risk management and crisis communication plans to ensure the safety of all involved.
  • Collaborate with fundraising staff and sponsorship Senior Managers to maximize corporate partner and team engagement at events.
  • Monitor expense budget for events and maintain accurate records of all invoices and expenses ensuring excellent stewardship of society resources.
  • Acquire in-kind contributions for each event and track for budget reporting.
  • In some cases, may be responsible for leading the work of others by supervising and directing projects with multiple staff. Oversee truck and event supply logistics plan for assigned territory events. Direct and support Senior Manager, Logistics in this work.
2. Volunteer Engagement
  • Engages volunteers through meaningful and impactful work that is well defined and structured by employing the strategies, tools and resources in their local market. Identifies, develops and grows volunteer capacity (skills and talents) to achieve measurable and sustainable results while removing obstacles.
  • Ensures volunteer behaviors are aligned with Society Operating Principles; provide timely feedback and coaching to improve performance and behaviors.
  • Ensures that volunteers are fueling the success and expanding the capacity by coaching to and assisting staff with building action-oriented volunteer leadership committees for event experience (the quality of the experience a participant has from the time they register through completion of the event) that will be led by the market Bike MS/Walk MS staff.
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to define volunteer opportunities, create job descriptions and ensure proper training.
  • Increase the number of local Society volunteers, recognizing and recruiting talent for the events.
    • Partner with volunteers to accomplish our work including day of event volunteers.
3. Completes other duties as assigned and tasks initiative for event related operations that aren't covered by other staff.
