The Specialist, Bike MS is responsible for the implementation and success for the assigned portfolio of team captains and top fundraisers for the BP MS 150 ride. This position will provide support and is accountable for reaching fundraising goals through cultivation of exisiting teams and the acquisition of new corporate teams.

The Specialist acts as an ambassador for the National MS Society, always striving to engage participants and donors with the mission by providing exceptional customer service and exceeding expectations. This position works closely with the market development team to implement the operational plan for the BP MS 150 in order to meet or exceed fundraising and engagement goals.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Teams and drives teams fundraising/revenue for the BP MS 150 Houston to Austin in the Houston area. The Specialist will work closely with the logistics team in the territory.

Essential Function/Responsibility

Responsible for leading the retention, acquisition and cultivation of teams, top fundraisers and individual participants for assigned Bike events.

  • Support the implementation and execution of Bike MS by recruiting, cultivating, and fostering relationships with team captains, teams, top fundraisers, participants, and sponsors.
  • Develop strong networks within the local community, cold call, and grow prospects for potential revenue and volunteer opportunities; increase Bike MS visibility and brand awareness.
  • Maintains accurate records/data to evaluate effectiveness and public awareness of events activities and results.
  • Develop and implement events to recognize, reward, and motivate successful team captains, volunteers and fundraisers to ensure ongoing commitment and engagement.
  • Adhere to the approved budget for any and all purchase orders and check requests
  • Assist in the assessment of prizes and t-shirts for team captains, participants and other ancillary efforts
  • Serve as a member of the development team to identify, assess, and implement best practices
  • Other administrative duties may be assigned based on local staff structure and resources

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional departments to achieve fundraising goals

  • Partner with development team members and cross-functional teams to identify and cultivate corporate relationships that promote corporate team fundraising
  • Serve as a member of the development team to identify, assess, and implement best practices

Volunteer Engagement

  • Increase the number of Society volunteers, recognizing and recruiting talent.
  • Engage volunteers, effectively communicating and facilitating meaningful opportunities across all functions.
  • Partner with volunteers to accomplish work.
  • Cultivate volunteers, seeking and providing feedback and sharing opportunities for reciprocal growth and learning.
